Research Study at MAHC

The Evaluation of a Mobile Smartphone Application to Improve Antimicrobial Stewardship in a Rural Hospital is a community research project which is now underway at both sites of MAHC. In this 2-year study we hope to learn whether providing point-of-care access to local best practice recommendations can impact the appropriateness of antimicrobial prescriptions for inpatients.

Through participation in the study, we are able to offer you access to Firstline, a smartphone app where you will find a wealth of information to promote optimal prescribing. Firstline uses content from MAHC order sets, formulary, and the local antibiogram integrated in a simple, user-friendly interface.

If you prescribe antibiotics to any patients in the hospital or emergency department, we encourage you to complete the short survey (linked above) of 10 questions related to your current awareness of antimicrobial stewardship resources at MAHC (ideally prior to use of Firstline).

MAHC Guidelines are now available in Firstline! Just scan the QR code, click to download, and start using! We hope this app will quickly become your go-to resource when it comes to treating infections.
