Eastern Health saw an overall downward trend in total antimicrobial usage (DDD/1000 patient days), particularly among piperacillin-tazobactam, fluoroquinolone and carbapenem use. As a result, regional inpatient antimicrobial expenditures decreased by $111,296 over the initial six months. At an annualized rate, Eastern Health saw antimicrobial cost savingsof $258/bed across 6 hospitals.

Following the live launch of Firstline on February 1st, 2019 in correspondence with a story released on CBC there was a large uptake of users followed by a stable active user base of 500-650 per month. This trend has continued into 2020. Active users were composed of a wide range of healthcare professionals.
